Emergency Child Care


Childcare in emergencies and marginal times

For members and affiliates of the University of Göttingen, we offer short-term childcare in emergencies or outside of regular care hours. Care is provided either by qualified childminders or by your own caregivers with appropriate qualifications.

Who can use this service?

  • Students
  • Doctoral candidates
  • Staff

Proof required: university ID, student ID, or guest card.

Extent of childcare provided

  • Students: up to 30 hours per semester
  • Staff: up to 30 hours per year



In which situations can the service be used?

  • Sudden (mild) illness of the child
  • Unexpected cancellation of regular childcare (e.g. due to illness, strike, extreme weather conditions)
  • Work- or study-related commitments outside of regular childcare hours (e.g. overtime, meetings, evening events)



How does it work?
Preparation:

  • Contact Kindertagespflege Göttingen e.V. in advance.
  • Complete the registration form for the emergency pool.
  • The childcare exchange will arrange a suitable caregiver.
  • Introductory meetings with the caregiver will take place.


In case of emergency or planned extended-hours care: Contact your assigned caregiver directly.
