Intersectionality has become a buzzword in South Asian academia in recent years. Until recently, a large section of academia displayed a strong reluctance to use the category of caste in the analysis of social, political, economic, and cultural processes. The arrival of intersectionality has facilitated the exploration of caste while examining categories such as gender, class, labour, and capital. This is strikingly evident in newer writings that have emerged in the fields of labour sociology, management and organisation studies, business histories, labour and social history, and cultural studies. Against this backdrop, this conference critically revisit the category intersectionality in South Asia. The papers engage with the theme of migration and labour, modes of migration, the (im)possibilities of mobility in employment. As for management and business organisation, papers focus on the owners of capital and outcomes of entrepreneurial activities, as well as workplace discrimination and exclusion. Similarly, in cultural studies, papers explore intersectionality through films, literary texts, and media.
