Applications for certificates
To avoid additional waiting times and fees, please check that the personal data (name, place and country of birth) and the thesis topic in both German and English are correct before submitting the certificate application.
You can check the English title of the thesis by generating an English transcript of records.
Only submit one certificate application (this applies to both the original and provisional certificates). Please send it by email to wiwipa@uni-goettingen.de as one PDF file in which your signature is legible.
You will receive a digital version of the certificate within a short time of submitting the application (usually 1–3 days). The original documents with stamps and signatures are usually available after about four weeks. You will receive an automatically generated email as soon as the original certificates are ready. These will be processed according to the information provided in the application.
You will also automatically receive an English version of the certificate.
You do not need to be enrolled in order to calculate or receive your certificate. Once your certificate has been calculated, the University's Office of Student Affairs will be notified of your successful completion of your studies, after which a re-registration block will be placed.
Certificates can be collected from 10:00 to 14:00, Monday to Thursday, and from 10:00 to 13:00 on Fridays.
Please note that you will not be automatically deregistered once you have received your certificate. If you have any questions about deregistration (Exmatrikulation) or the refund of semester fees already paid, please contact the University's Office of Student Affairs at Wilhelmsplatz. We do not carry out deregistration.
