What we are interested in

The Chair of Interorganizational Information Systems is dedicated to studying and advancing data-driven innovations, platforms, and ecosystems. We are particularly interested in how interactions related to digital systems should be designed and which economic, technological, strategic and societal implications emerge from this.

Recent topics of interest include, for example, management and competition of digital platforms, interactions with AI and algorithms, and the design and boundary conditions of data-driven innovations.

Digital platforms

Digital platforms are changing fundamental mechanisms in commerce (e.g., Temu), in the service sector (e.g., Fiverr), and in the (shared) use of data (e.g., Honic). How must such platforms be designed in socio-technical terms in order to realize their potential and avoid negative dynamics?

Interactions with AI and algorithms

AI systems and algorithms are shaping the future of work. How must AI be designed to increase productivity in the long term? What roles can AI play in work processes, and where are the limits of what is productive and acceptable?

Data-driven innovations and ecosystems

“Data is the new oil,” so all we have to do is “skim it off the top”? Not really: the challenges of data integration are considerable, and individuals and companies are often reluctant to share data. How can the potential of data-driven innovation be realized across company boundaries?
